Tim Duncan Pottery

Tim’s pottery classes are made for everyone! From beginners to ultimate potters. This was my first experience doing pottery. Tim was an incredible teacher and will encourage creativity, while offering a helping hand when needed. He teaches you techniques each class and always welcomes your questions. I can’t wait to get back.

Tim’s pottery classes are wonderful - Tim is an incredibly knowledgeable, patient and supportive teacher, and his studio is a wonderful place to gather and meet other people in the community. This was a great first time introduction to ceramics for me, but the classes are really flexible for people of all skill levels. Tim also makes THE MOST gorgeous glazes. Cannot recommend highly enough :)

Tim classes and studio are absolutely delightful. My husband and I recently took a class with him and it became the highlight of our week. Tim is an absolutely excellent teacher, and approaches his classes with a sense of letting students play, experiment, and just enjoy creating art. The studio is a beautiful space to work, and the other students who attend are helpful and friendly. Tim is great at encouraging you to try to make new things, as well as helping you get more basic skills of throwing. Tim is also extremely knowledgeable about glazes and makes sure all the glazes in the studio are food safe, so that all the pieces you make can actually be used and enjoyed. This morning I am drinking tea out of a mug that I make in Tim’s class and it is so satisfying to hold it and know that it is a functional piece of artwork that I created, and it wouldn’t have been possible without Tim’s help!

Tim's classes are perfect for potters of any experience level. He tailors his approach to the needs of each student, whether you want detailed, hands on teaching or the freedom to play and explore. More than that though, Tim has created a community space for people learn from one another and to be themselves in safety and to experience the joy of creating together. Businesses like Tim's make Williamstown a better place for all of us and are so vital in today's world.

This class was amazing. Tim is a great teacher. He spent a lot of time handling the complexities so that we could just focus on learning skills. After a basic intro to throwing, he encouraged us to learn by doing and making mistakes, but would also take the time to demonstrate a skill or particular technique we asked about. The studio is always organized and clean, so it's always easy to get right to throwing. The slips and glazes Tim makes are beautiful and elevate even the most rudimentary pieces. I will definitely be taking this class the next time it is offered.
