Our instructor was incredibly friendly, helpful, and provided excellent hands-on feedback. Before starting the hour-long class, he made sure to ask if anyone needed a restroom break. We placed our belongings on a rack to avoid anything poking us while we worked on the wheel. He began with a demonstration on the wheel, clearly showing proper hand positioning, elbow placement, and how to lean into the wheel for power. Each step was explained in great detail, which was very helpful. After the demo, we each got on the wheel while he talked us through every step. We moved slowly, which was perfect for beginners. At each stage, he paused to give us individualized guidance and hands-on corrections—always asking for consent before physically assisting us. He was respectful, communicative, and made sure everyone felt comfortable throughout. Overall, it was a fantastic experience. I highly recommend taking his class if you’re looking to try something new, have fun, and get your hands dirty. We each made two pottery pieces in about an hour—one was included, and the second could be kept for an additional $10. Although the class was scheduled for an hour, we ended up going 40 minutes over, which was a great bonus. Definitely recommend!
I received the 1-hour Intro Class as a Christmas gift. I have always wanted to throw pottery on a wheel, and it was incredible! The class actually lasted almost 2 hours. It was casual, but we received ongoing training and feedback, a nice amount of practice time, and then guided through the creation of two separate pieces (both could be fired and glazed for an additional $10). The trainer (Joe) was clear, fun, and helpful. I plan to book another session with my whole family and/or purchase the next level of instruction. I highly recommend.
We had an amazing time at Zebulon Pottery! We took a pottery wheel class with friends, and it was such a fun and unique experience. The instructor was patient and knowledgeable, guiding us through the process of throwing clay and shaping our own bowls. It was surprisingly relaxing and a great way to try something new. We can’t wait to see our finished pieces after firing! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a creative and hands-on activity.
I had such an amazing time here! I took the intro class with my 8-year-old son. The instructor was very patient with my son and very helpful. I will be booking another class! It was so much fun!
My kids loved the class they took with John! They are 10 and 7 and said they liked it even better than going to an amusement park! John was personable and made them feel comfortable and confident, providing plenty of verbal guidance and hands on support. He made sure they knew and followed the safety rules, and he was really relaxed about parents being nearby and watching, which I appreciated. My kids can’t wait to pick up and paint the mugs they made! It was a wonderful experience, and I’m thankful for Zebulon Pottery providing an opportunity for my children to see what they are capable of!
