My kids and I went and made three different pieces today! Andy was so kind, helpful, and very patient with my kids who were total beginners and just wanted to create. He helped steer them toward a project that would work and helped them make a project that will be beautiful. I can’t wait to come back and learn to throw. We will definitely be making an appointment and coming back to make more pottery! (Also, sorry my kids called it expensive, they don’t realize it’s a little rude. They didn’t mean it in a bad way, just that it’s more money than we usually spend on an activity for the family! - we thoroughly enjoyed it and it was 100% worth the price you charged and more!) We hugely enjoyed ourselves and I for one am incredibly grateful to you. Thank you.
I had my reservations but my wife and I had a really good time. We chose The Mud Room to celebrate our 9th anniversary and it was a fantastic choice. The shop is a very warm place to be and the people are better. Andy took time to make our expectations possible. We sincerely enjoyed this experience. Highly recommend!
If you’re looking for a new hobby, amazing community, or even a therapeutic activity, I highly recommend The Mud Room!! I came into The Mud Room with ZERO experience and discovered a love for ceramics. It doesn’t matter if you’re experienced, took 1 class in high school/college, or never touched clay in your life. The Mud Room has a place for every skill level! I was also surprised by the amount of support and kindness from the owners (Emily & Andy), instructors (Caleb), and fellow classmates. The ceramic community has so many incredible and welcoming people. It’s a locally owned business with the kindest and most passionate owners you’ll ever meet. I always look forward to striking up a conversation with Emily and hearing the latest dad jokes from Andy. They truly make you feel welcome and apart of the ceramics community. It’s a true Topeka gem.
My husband and I had a great time at The Mud Room. The shop is so well organized and inviting. Andy is a fantastic teacher and very patient. We couldn’t believe we actually walked away having made a beautiful product with our lack of artistic skill. It is clear that the heart of The Mud Room is to serve its community with a space to learn, create and to seek reprieve from the day to day business of life. We highly suggest checking them out!
So, I first started going here to do private lessons with the owners. One lesson for hand building and one lesson on the pottery wheel. Let me just say, OH MAN! Love the environment and the people! It’s a nice comforting atmosphere and it brought back my passion for art. 11/10 for the Mud Room. Love it here, will continue to create with them.
