We did a clay class with Flower and they were absolutely amazing. Incredibly sweet, helpful, and motivating. It was an amazing class. The premade pottery painting area is also quite large with a ton of pottery and colors to choose from. Great place
My daughter’s best friend invited us to take a clay class! My little one had a great time, it was super fun! This is beautiful place and the ladies that work there are super friendly and helpful
Super fun place! Lots of things to choose from to paint. My husband and grandson loved it too. Employees super helpful and gave us tips, and any paint color we wanted! Will for sure be back.
The Potter's Cottage is my #1 locally owned business in all of Kansas City. I first heard about them at Planet Comicon in the spring of 2022. I have attended several special events including May the Fourth celebrations, space day (where my husband brought his BB-8 droid for kids to take pictures with) and had my 30th "Lisa Frank" themed birthday party here. Definitely follow their Facebook page for updated parties (Harry Potter night was awesome!) Each summer, Brenda has children camps that kiddos can participate, each with a different themed week, and corresponding crafts that match. The best thing about The Potter's Cottage is the people who run it: Brenda, her family, and all of the staff (Christine, Emma) are incredibly knowledgeable on the process. I love coming here. In fact, one day I came at 10:30am and left at 5:15pm! I painted, painted and painted. I didn't feel rushed to get out and they were complimentary of my paintings. *Experience & How It Works* All the items you can paint have the supplies included in the prices. If you pick something that is $6 or $60, all the supplies are included. You can use as many paints as you want, as many glazes, etc. At your table, you will fill out a piece of paper outlining what colors you want, the size, and then the pottery wizards will get your glaze for you. Brushes are found at the table as well as your 'menu' of colors. Different glazes have different purposes - some are food safe, some are not. If you do not paint the item fully, it will still be glazed for its own protection. It is recommended that you paint each glaze color 3x for maximum coverage and opacity. ALSO, wipe off your pottery piece with the sponge and water to help get dust off before you start painting. After you are finished, leave your painting on the table and then you will pay up front for your item. The staff then will fire it up, and call you once it has been finished. They will hold your pottery piece for 3 months. *Things I've Painted* R2-D2 piggy bank, BB-8 piggy bank, a dragon egg, a deer plate, a witchy kitty cat, an R2-D2 bowl, a hobbit door, a pumpkin, 2 Christmas sweater ornaments, a koi.
Fun way to spend a couple of hours relaxing painting pottery with friends. They provide all the paint and directions. You can take for and drink in. They also provide tea, coffee or hot chocolate.
