- The actual time spent on the pottery wheel might be limited (around 20-25 minutes for one reviewer) with a significant portion of the workshop dedicated to cleanup, torching, and painting.
- The instructor may not provide clear time guidance for each stage of the workshop, potentially leading to less time on the wheel than desired.
- Some customers might find the instructor's guidance on making pottery pieces less hands-on or suggestive for beginners.
- A customer's experience might be significantly influenced by the specific instructor they get, with potential for a vastly different outcome.
- It's recommended for beginners to educate themselves on what they want to make and how to achieve it before the workshop, as the instructor might not provide extensive guidance on this.
The Painters Loft is a fantastic place. The owner made this such a great experience. She was very patient with us and showed and taught us what we needed to know. I had purchased 2 Try It Out Pottery class passes for Christmas of 2023. By the time my wife and I scheduled our class I had lost the physical gift cards. The owner and her staff were very accommodating and worked with me to verify my purchase allowed me to schedule our session. Great Customer Service. We also loved our finished product. We'll definitely will be going back.
I love the ceramics classes here. The instruction is clear and detailed. Cindy is very encouraging and patient. Overall the class has a positive vibe and the students are friendly and supportive.
We went there as a group to celebrate a friend’s 60th birthday and we couldn’t have had a better time or a more positive experience. Cindy was so positive and patient with us as we learned to use the pottery wheel and made our own bowls. I would recommend this place to everyone and look forward to returning for more fun!
The act of molding clay on the wheel is indeed therapeutic, as practitioners say. If you are thinking of it, then absolutely give this art form a try. I did the One-Time- Try-IT for newbies. The studio was well equipped with materials - enough wheels, painting materials. The return of the baked product was within reasonable time. The actual time on the wheel was about 20-25 mins for me, others spent longer. I would caution you to two things if this is the studio you choose: 1. The structure of the workshop is clay on the wheel, clean up, torch and paint. Clean up, torching and painting took no more than 30-40 mins in all. So, IMO stay on the wheel as long as possible - that part is more enjoyable and frankly why one takes the workshop. I did not find the instructor giving a clear delineation of how much time to devote to each and I ended up wrapping on the wheel in 20 mins with a little too much time left for the rest, less exciting activities. 2. Educate yourself on what piece you want to make, how to go about it, what colors and textures look good. Youtube has a lot of stuff on it. As someone doing this for the first time, I was uncertain, very tentative and relied completely on the instructor which let me down. I expected the instructor to be accomodating to doubts and imperfection, throwing suggestions out on how to make our pieces better, and a guided experience at each stage of the process, which it wasnt at all. Overall, my piece was compromised but the experience of the wheel has me hooked. Perhaps my experience with a different instructor would have been vastly positive. For a newbie, a teacher makes all the difference.
Had a really great time doing pottery tonight with Cindy! Myself and 3 of my family members went to a pottery wheel class to make vases and Cindy was extremely helpful and a wonderful conversation. Excited to see the finished piece in 3 weeks!
