I love my experience at Yonkers Pottery Studio. I am now on my third or fourth session and I couldn’t be more thrilled with how much I’ve learned and progressed. Cori has always been an absolute pleasure to work with and learn from. Giselle is so patient and kind and a natural teacher. I would recommend this studio to anyone that wants to create, whether it’s your first time working with clay or not. It is a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Tried to sign up for a membership with them and they told me I wasn't experienced enough. I'm not a pro or anything but I have worked with clay for years. They just wanted me to pay more and spend 600+ on their classes even tho I'm not interested in that, I know how to work with clay and I know my style already. Disappointed. Definitely not interested in spending that much for classes especially when the reviews seem to be so bad.

I did not enjoy my experience at this studio. It was my first time learning about pottery. Cory is not a great communicator and is not organized at all. I think it would’ve been helpful if she started the course with a class schedule but instead she would wing it each week. She also wouldn’t teach something each week. My class seemed to be full of more experienced people and because of that Cory didn’t feel the need to teach much. I expressed to her that I was a beginner before I even signed up and she said this class would be good for me. It wasn’t. I ended up getting sick and missed a few classes. I wasn’t able to make it up during the semester since I got kidney stones and figured that if I showed her my doctors note that she would make an exception. Instead, she said I would have to pay an additional hefty price. I replied and told her that I won’t be paying the extra fee and communicated to her that I did not feel that this course was the right one for me and that I’d be changing studios. She did not reply anymore after that. I came to class the last week to pick up my cup I had been working on. It turns out that Cory decided to throw it out or that’s what I’m assuming because she never got back to me after I emailed her asking where it was. She wasn’t in class that day so I couldn’t ask her directly about where it was. This was after we had the conversation about making up the classes, Cory telling me I’d have to pay an additional fee and me declining that offer. I emailed twice asking about the cup and she never replied. One of her other students that teaches try to help me find it and also couldn’t locate it. She reached out to Cory and Cory told her she’d talk to me. She never reached out. Not very professional so take note of that. Based off of what I saw in the short time that I was there I’m sure that she took my email to heart and got upset about me not enjoying the course. So, I left the course without anything to show and honestly didn’t learn anything. I also wasted over $600. Truly a waste. I should also mention- When I signed up, she told me I was taking the last spot. A woman showed up last minute to the first day of class and Cory had told her that the class was already full but she quickly changed her mind and accepted her money. She seems to only care about the money instead of the quality of lessons she’s giving and only makes exceptions when it benefits her. There was one poor review before I decided to sign up but I ignored it since it was the only one. I wish I hadn’t and I advise you to not ignore it either. I encourage you to look for other studios such as the ones in rye or portchester. Cory truly has a very nasty attitude and is not pleasant to work with. If you’re like me, it’s impossible to learn from someone like this. A good teacher encourages you and doesn’t get annoyed when you don’t understand something. Cory seemed annoyed when I didn’t instantly get something. That type of energy discourages a person to keep on learning but luckily I’m still motivated to learn- just not from here. Invest your money else where.

There is no actual structure in this class. The instructor does not have Lessons on a weekly basis where a concept is taught. When she does try to teach you something, it is done in a non-friendly manner. Key information about the process of having things fired and glazed was never explained. Missed classes and the procedure to make them up was never communicated. Trying to get a hold of someone to speak to is challenging via phone or email.

I started taking classes here in the fall with Cori, and I love it so much, I just signed on for another longer term of classes. The group is so chill and I'm learning so much! Aside from learning the techniques, I just have a good time hanging out with everyone. They're all really supportive and helpful.
