- The trial class insisted on strictly following a curriculum starting with pencil sketches, regardless of the student's existing skill level. This limited the ability to explore other mediums during the trial. One instructor also seemed to enforce a rigid approach to object drawing (e.g., drawing an orange to its exact size).
- A customer suggested that the studio could provide evaluations every half a year to inform parents about their child's progress and next steps.
I have been going to this studio for about 5 1/2 yrs now and I have to say I HIGHLY recommend it for anyone interested in visual art. The staff always been very open and are always helping you progress and grow. Their curriculum is very open for change as you can try anything you want to from Pastel, Watercolor, Pencil, etc. I am very grateful for all that the studio and staff have done to mold all of us into the artists we want to become.
The Studio has always been full of helpful, passionate, and engaging teachers. I began attending classes when I was just three years old and looking back, I'm really impressed by how the instructors were able to cater their teaching to such a diverse age range. I was able to explore a variety of styles and mediums and, more importantly, bring my passions and interests into the class - painting or drawing the various things I was interested in growing up. I'm now in my 20s studying art in university and I truly wouldn't have been able to get here without the creative foundation The Studio helped me build.
Followup with Owner's response: I agree that skills essential & fundamental knowledge should be assessed in the very first place (we are not arguing over this). However, this unsatisfied experience starting from this "trail class": what is the definition & market design objective? Are you provide "trail class" in order to ASSESS future students's fundamentals? Or are you providing the students one-time-experience to tell them: "this is what you will be doing if you enrolled in our following classes". From a student perspective, to be super clear, I am NOT going your trail class for AN-EXAMINE, I am there to see if it will be a POTENTIAL-GOOD-class for me. You can reach out to other students and even do some marketing analysis / survey on how people understand the word "trail class", what they want to take from it. It is just my personal understanding and my personal advice. Original Posts: went to a trail class. The overall experience was below average: the crew there insisted we had to strictly follow their "curriculum" starting from pencil sketches regardless of the level you paint and how much you really know about paint. If so, how do I see if class other than pencil drawing really fits? There is only 1hour and half, you literally did pencil sketches from an orange to a green apple, from a green apple to a red apple, to a pot with a red apple. Besides, one crew sort of "required" you to literally draw a orange as it is size-wise: it was just so ridiculous! If you want to do figure sketch, you literally have to sketch a human as a human size???I felt it is totally a joke. Not recommend at all.
My son loves art class. The pictures he comes home with are amazing! Most importantly my son is proud of his work and leaves feeling incredibly confident. He is gaining a real love for art, creating and appreciating it. The staff is very friendly and talented.
My son has been taking class there for about 1 and half years. He loves it. It will be great if the studio can provide some evaluation every half a year so that I can know where my son is, and what the next step is.
